  1. visit these websites and they should give you the information:

  2. you should request for green card first, and it requires you to stay in US for a year(at least).. after a year you can apply for green card, then if they accept you, you should stay 4 more years to be able to apply for citizenship.. this is a link that you can download the green card application form:

    (read carefully)

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m...

    Hope it helps =)

    Edited:

Soda Popinski's answer is more complex.

  3. if you are here legally then call a local government agency to ask for the paperwork.  If you're not here legally I don't know. hope u make it good luck

  4. Marry a US citizen

  5. The first and most complex step is to obtain a green card.

See http://www.uscis.gov/greencard for the ways one may obtain a green card, a.k.a. permanent resident card.

Once you have the green card, remain a permanent resident of the US for 5 years. You may apply for US citizenship as early as 90 days before the 5th anniversary of the date printed on your green card next to "Resident since".

The 5-year requirement is reduced to 3 if you obtained your green card by marrying a US citizen.

Here's some further reading on being a permanent resident:

  6. soda's answer is more complex but it is the most correct, the others know very little about immigration procedures, no one can just apply for a green card because they like the u.s. or because they have been here for a year or more, if that was the case we not have as many illegals as we have now.
