  1. Why would someone want to buy a family plot? - I can't imagine anyone wanting to be buried with someone else's family :-S

  2. If you haven't got the deed or details of the registry of plots, you probably don't own it, but in case the paperwork has been lost you could simply contact the cemetery managers and ask.

Some large cemeteries (such as Rookwood Necropolis in Sydney) have their own mangers, but in many small towns or suburban areas, the local council or city governing body also manages cemeteries.

Visit the website for the cemetery or the local town council, and find out which office looks after ownership of burial plots.

You may have to pay an enquiry fee or prove your connection in some way, but there are usually public records of ownership.

As far as selling it, you may not be legally entitled to do so. You will have to check with the cemetery management.

If you ARE allowed to sell it, many people do so simply by putting an advert in the classifieds of the local paper, or newspaper for senior cits, or check out the link below (last link) for advice from right here on Yahoo!Answers :-)

    Good luck! :-)

  3. ummmm .. aren't you going to be needing it one day ?
