I want to train as a pilot in the UK and i was wondering how i would go from JAA to FAA as i would like to move to america once i had finished my training. Would i need any extra qualifications or anything else to start work with an american airline.

  1. I would do it different if I were you. It's much cheaper to get your license in the USA than in Europe, so if your main goal is to fly in the States then go there and get your license there. It might save you $40.000 or so!

Apparently it is easier to go from JAA to FAA than the other way around, and if you really want it I would do a search on the FAA website.

Eventually you'll need a green card to work in the USA as well, I think your future airline could help you arrange that once you've qualified for the job.

    Good luck!

  2. Go to the FAA website here and read the requirements:
