  1. Depends on whether you're referring to something or someone.  But because it's in the general sense and because I'm presuming you would refer to a person (or people) in this context, I agree with Monie: Je n'ai pas la capacité de détester.

    Use an online translator to combine words in the form of 'I hate [someone]' versus 'I hate [something]' to get a sense of the differences in meaning.
