How would i set up an external hard drive to burn DVD's from my Dish network DVR?

I want to burn the things that i have recorded to dvd's to keep my dvr's hard drive open vand free... How would i set that up?

Do i just need an external hard drive and to plug it in or is there more to it?

What is the best external DVD burner?

  1. I don't know if you can transfer to a burner but you can transfer programs to a external hard drive.  You have to have certain receivers with a USB port on it.  Call Dish 800 333 3474 and they will activate the port (it's a $40 fee).  Then you plug in the external hard drive and are able to transfer the programs to it.
