How would i setup a wireless router in my basement if my main computer is on the second floor?

I want to setup my wireless router in my basement, but my main computer is in my second floor and I don't want to move it out of its place. How would I ya know...get my wireless router hooked up in my basement?

  1. The router always  goes between all the computers and the modem.

    But why in the basement?  The router should be where you have easy access to it, not where you have to run two flights of stairs to see what's blinking and what's not.

    And if the main computer is already cabled to the modem, that cable will do fine connecting the router upstairs to the modem.  By the way, a cabled connection is the safest way to administer the router.  Permitting wireless administration opens the door to hijacking.

    Usually, they provide the software for it. If you have cable, then you put the cable in the router. Now, their is a card that they supply you with and it will hook up to their site.

    They will program it via the internet. just follow the onscreen tutor. Linksys is a good wireless router and has a very good connect.

    Nothing complicated. It is almost a plug and prag proposition.
