How would my husband and I go about adopting a child from foster care in Florida?

We have a 7 year daughter already but are wanting to adopt a child in 2 years when he graduates from grad school. Any tips or information would be very helpful.

You contact your local DSS office and request paperwork.....then you complete the paperwork and submit it along with other items as needed...then you would need to go to parenting courses and complete your homestudy....then the wait begins. I would suggest that you study and read up as much as you can in the mean time...to prepare yourself and your home for another child....and to think about all of the highs and lows and how you will handle these. I would also suggest that you do not wait until you are ready to have the child in your home to start the process. It often takes 1-2 years for the entire process...so start a little earlier if you can.
