How would one COMPETE WITH WAL-MART and be successful opening a discount store like they are and K-mart was?

K-mart is doing horrible in general it's Sears that's keeping them alive. If this is a SUCH a FREE country why couldn't I open up my own discount retailing store and try to compete with Wal-Mart or is that just impossible? I thought America was free? Doesn't it seem that a piece of America is lost now? That's one thing you could have done that you can't do now thanks to wal-mart!!! Pretend though that I had a billion dollars still how woudl you open a store that sells general stuff like they do groceries, automotive, electronics etc, and possibly hope to comepete?

The problem is that economically, American made stuff can't compete with the stuff Walmart gets from China.  No entrepreneur is going to change that economic situation, but it's bound to change eventually.  China is facing double digit inflation and their prices are sure to go up... Vietnam is taking a lot of the manufacturing jobs that once went to China.

You know that Wal-Mart has cheap foreign labor for like 5 cents a day ILLEGALLY EVERY  DAY. They also make their workers go overtime, like if they have 20 minutes left of their shift,they'll give them an hour job, and they don't pay overtime. The only way you can have as low prices as Wal-Mart, is as if you do something illegal.Sorry =(
