  1. Dempsey would walk him down and destroy him. I dont think agression was heard of until Jack Dempsey laced em up. Only playing i know there were other fighters who brawled but i really think in a square off between these two Johnson would avoid the haymakers and other big shots for the first few rounds but eventually the ultra aggressive Dempsey catchs him and Johnson wouldnt get up and survive as he did with smaller fighters in the past, Dempsey would finish him straight away.

  2. **** you would need to be 100 years old....

the book say dempsey....but one say johnson was a barn fighter

others with tell you he was a master of making them miss.

but i love the books about the old boxers best was jack dempsey the 1st

  3. Gene Tunney was a boxer, puncher counter puncher, a little bit more refined then Jack Johnson but the styles are similar and Tunney dummied Dempsey by jabbing and moving and countering Dempsey during his rushes.

Dempsey had good outings and bad outings. He lost to lesser fighters. But Dempsey went on a few good winning streaks and then would lose. Much like his last great run when he took wins over Jess Willard,Billy Miske,George Carpentier,Tommy Gibbons, and Luis Firop who were all good strong fighters but had limited boxing ability. Then when he ran into a fighter who knew how to box, and was trained correctly how to use the sweet science while in the marines he was out boxed by Gene Tunney.

I would see a fight with Jack Johnson being similar to that, Johnson had a good understanding of the science in his time but may have still been too raw and unrefined to handle the aggresiveness of Jack Dempsey.

45 rounds though, man the rules were so different then, a round did not end till a fighter was knocked down and he was given a long time to get up. Very few punches where thrown back then because of the tendancy to break hands and fighters had to prepare for the long haul.

By the time Dempsey was prime I think it was down to 15 rounds and the gloves were bigger and the rules were more enforced.

45 rounds, I don't know, I would take Dempsey s aggression to overwhelm Johnson who would not have seen the likes of a fighter like Dempsey before.

Johnson would have been a bit bigger but not enough to make it a factor i don't think. I believe Dempsey had the longer reach.

Ill say Johnson's primitive version of Gene Tunney's style might not have been enough to hold off the aggression of Jack Dempsey. I see Dempsey landing a big hook on a tired Johnson before the 20th round and ending Johnson's night.

Johnson's biggest hope would be to tire Jack Dempsey out and stop him late, but Dempsey was probably one of the most conditioned boxers of his time, before and maybe even today his stamina and endurance would match up.

    Dempsey KO 17

  4. In the battle of the Jack's you have Johnson who was a defensive genius and Dempsey who was an aggressive terror in the ring and a great finisher.  Stamina is about equal and both men are very tough and strong.  In the early rounds, Johnson would not let Dempsey work on the inside too much and tie him up a lot, so there would be a lot of clinches.  Dempsey would land some brutal body shots and Johnson would land some quick accurate blows.  Through the first 8-9 rounds Johnson would have a slight edge, but in rounds 9-12 Dempsey would start landing some good shots and force Johnson to backpeddle and hang on.  Both men would really start to tire out by about the 15th round of a great fight.  In round 16 Dempsey would catch Johnson with a vicious combination and send him to the canvas where he is counted out.  Dempsey by 16th round kayo.

  5. johnson would have his hands full, thats for sure, because dempsey is a bull and would press the action all the way.

but johnson is not to be denied, he was as slick as they come and very frustrating to fight.

i see johnson getting the better of most exchanges, tieing his man up in the clinches and winning the match by stopping dempsey around the 20 round mark.

  6. depends on which johson and dempsey your talking about if both in their primes it would of been a war probably with johnson winning on pts
