How would someone track a Salamander?

What kind of device would an expert use to track a salamander? I'm really looking for any species however, the Chinese Giant Salamander more specifically.

Radio device, and I would look into RFID chip technology, since they are small, and can possibly be implanted under the skin of such a large animal as giant salamander.
