I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by bland ~ but if you mean not herbs, not peppers etc and if you are saying soup first and then fish, the easiest way is to take some carrots, cook them until soft, put them in a blender and you have a "tasty" but bland soup which would go with fish just grilled and plated

why would u want it to taste bland..it'd be bland if u didnt add any spices or anything...to the soup i d say add teragon to the brother onions peppers and some lemon or lime for zest! then cook in the fish.

in japan when you have overstayed your welcome you are offered a dish to tell you go home it is rice in a bowl/cup some grilled salmon placed on top of the rice with green tea poured over.you can try that one sounds easy too
