  1. I would take the square root of both sides of the equation, getting:

    x + 6 = +/- 2

    x = -6 +/- 2

    x = -4

    x = -8

    Another way is to square the left side getting:

    x^2 + 12x + 36 = 4

    Subtract 4 from both sides.

    x^2 + 12x + 32 = 0

    Factor

    (x + 8)(x + 4) = 0

    x = -4

    x = -8

  2. (x + 6)^2 = 4 (square root both sides)

    x + 6 = 2 or x + 6 = -2 (subtract 6 from both sides)

    x = -4 or x = -8 <===ANSWER

  3. Take the square root of both sides. This will give x+6=2 and -2

    x+6=2. subtract 6 from both sides giving x=-4

    x+6=-2 subtract 6 from both sides giving x=-8
