What if you plunked $100 in the typical U.S. stock fund (e.g. S & P 500) before the Great Depression. How much would you have now?

  1. I can tell you that YOU probably would not look all that good today, if you were around and investing back then.

    Likely you would be dead, then what would it matter?

    It is not as easy a question as you might think. I believe only one stock from back then is in the Dow now. That is GE. And I am fairly sure they didn't have the S&P 500 back then.  And what was dollar worth back then compared to now?

    Lots to consider.
