Question:

How would the line of succession to the British Monarchy me handled in this hypothetical situation?

The reigning monarch, a female, has no children. Then she becomes pregnant with twin boys. But when they are delivered they can't be delivered normally, so the are delivered C-section. And in some strange never before seen oddity of reproductive science history, the two infants are removed from the womb at the same time. Which means it is impossible to know which one is older than the other.

I know this really never happens. Even when twins come out via C-section, they are plucked out one at a time. But maybe in this case, for some reason, the opening made had to be much larger, and both came out at once.

In such a dispute, who would decide who is heir to the throne?

  1. They could always go back to the good old medieval ways and and try to murder each other

  2. I would have to say who ever the doctor touched first was really the one "delivered" first

  3. Honestly, this is like asking if the first born would still inherit if he was a squid.  Your hypothetical situation cannot happen, so there is no rule for it.

  4. You are a nutter, but harmless and a bloody good laugh.  Thanks.  But they don't give out medication for no reason so keep taking it.

  5. My guess would be parliament but this is a situation that wars are made of and murder.  If you have ever known twins they believe they were both born first.

  6. Parliament.  (The government).  In any event and under any circumstances parliament is sovereign.

edit: to the half-wit who gave this a 'thumbs down'.

Read up on your history / constitution.  1642. 1688 etc.

You are going to fail your GCSE 'British Constitution'.  And it won't be my fault.

  7. I'd say the heir to the throne would be whichever twin boy the doctor first decided to pick up and gave it to the nurse to clean. This sort of random choice can be taken as a sign from "God", who had already chosen which one is heir, and which one is the spear.

  8. Dear questioner;Assuming that both twins lived to the age of majority perhaps there would be some kind of rating system involving IQ,health and reaction times and other criteria including the presences of certain gene combinations.Maybe one of them has an heir (male) before the other. It may all come down to the Regent,or by parliamentary proclamation or just by Royal decree! Also when a baby is born it goes through a rating system called Apgar .This will be different for each child even if they are identical twins.Twins usually have fields of expertise where one excels over the other, talk about environment over hereditary.
