  1. Well, I imagine your parents are pretty strict on this. I think you should tell them how these rules make you feel, I mean, this religion is imposing on your childhood. I don't think it's right at all, especially considering you have no choice but to do so.

I'll be 100% honest, I had a friend in school that was Pentecostal and she had to do all these things, and what made it even worse was that her father was the preacher. People in school made fun of her all the time. It's rediculous. I think you have the right to make your own desicions about what you believe. My friend always wore skirts to school but when she got there she changed into clothes we would bring her to wear, I'm sorry you're going through this, but I really do suggest that you voice your opinion to your parents,. they could be very understanding, you never know until you try,. Best of Luck

  2. im christian as well but some of this stuff that you are talking about is new to me and it sounds ridiculous. the only thing on your list that i know of are the no earrings(because its against our religion to get peircings) but as a baby i got my ears peirced and i refuse to wear clip-ons. and whats up with this skirt madness, i wear skirts from time to time but thats because i want to and they are not all the way down to my knees unless im at church. no dances, i have been to school dances before and  i never heard a rule against it. i heard about no bad words i know thats against our religion. listening to music that is not christian music is a choice not a rule. i was baptized twice once when i was eight and again when i fully understood what it was about at 12. email me at leahuniversal@yahoo.com if you want to discuss this further.

  3. Do you actually know or understand why those things are not allowed? or are you just following the rules because you will get into trouble if you don't?

Ask yourself the reason for not doing things like going to the dance, etc.

To me the list is not about "DON'T DO THIS or THAT....." it's about modesty, caring for yourself, not following trends that will keep you away from God or hindering your relationship with God (if you have one) or are you just doing it because your parents forced you to?

Following what you believe doesn't make you a loser. It makes you a person because you think for yourself and you decide for yourself.

I don't know how old you are but soon you'll be able to decide for yourself - Love for God or love for the world, there can only be ONE!

  4. I'm sorry but being christian doesn't mean you have to wear skirts forever.Sure, there's certain boundaries, but everything you mention is like following a cult. I'm christian and I was taught that you believe in God and Jesus resurrecting, but all those rules were made up by man, not by God. For example the meaning of being baptized is that you declare yourself a new person in Jesus Christ, not that you become a nun or monk. You try to move forward believing in Jesus and the things he said about His love and forgiveness for our faults. The bible says somewhere about god decorating  us with royal garments. Nothing about forbidding skirts. If we didn't lose our temper SOMETIMES and say things we don't mean (i.e. bad words what would God have to forgive us about. If we were perfect why would God try to guide us or forgive us. He never would've came to die for us and show us love truth and life.We wouldn't be wrong and  we would know everything if we were perfect.

  5. I'd goto a different church. You can still be a strong Christian without those rules.

Just still wait till your married for s*x.

  6. It's a matter of belief I think. If you believe in your religion, then stick to it. If you don't, it's time to start talking to your parents and priest/pastor about these feelings.

I'm not religious at all, but I still have the same morals as most religions have. I believe you can still be a good person and not go to church, but it's an individual belief system, and sometimes those beliefs say that doing certain things will guarentee or help you to be a better person.

Ask questions about WHY these rules are in place, and maybe you'll understand and appreciate why they are the way they are. Don't disagree without knowledge, and don't agree without knowledge.
