  1. (Not sure why this is posed in Earth Science & Geology ... but here's my answer.)

Anyone who needs to "adjust" their religious beliefs based on scientific concepts is doomed to have religious beliefs so fluid that they can hardly be called "beliefs" at all.

It is far better to align your beliefs in a way that does not conflict with any scientific concepts at all ... including scientific concepts and evidence yet to be discovered.

In other words, avoid Biblical literalism like the childlike mindset that it is.   It is reading a text (like scripture) as a child would.   And as such it dooms you to come into direct conflict with science and a crisis point at which you have to choose *between* your faith and science.   This is why there are so many people who reject science and scientists utterly ... or reject faith and organized religions utterly.  Both are tragic ... and unnecessary.

Biblical literalism leads both to BAD science, and to BAD religion.

  2. If I thought I were just a human body, I might be offended when people say I evolved from apes. But I know that I am a spirit, not a body. Evolution has nothing to do with spirits. I am not a product of evolution.

  3. Well, I'm not going to type a paragraph because I don't need to.

I believe in God the Creator. I believe in biological evolution. I DO NOT believe in the literalism of the Bible.  God is the driving force behind everything and he has allowed us to evolve wisdom, intellect, and reason.

Simple as that. You have to remember the Bible for what it is: a book, chronicling the salvation story of the Jews, written by men in a very different historical time period with very different cultures, laws, opinions, and practices. Its not a science book.
