  1. we dont say 'dear diary'.

    we dont personify the diary in japan.

    we just write like ...

    'i saw rikako in kinder days after a long separation. she didnt change much and....'

    dear diary = shinainaru nikkichou

    but sounds strange to us.

  2. Well most people don't talk to their diary so they just write the date to start off. Following that the most common way to start is to say "today, ..." or 今日は = kyou ha ... or what ever you want to say

    But I guess you can say something like:

    親愛なる日記帳へ = "Sin ai naru nikki chou he" or

    日記さんへ = "Nikki san he"

    if you really feel the need to.

  3. "Dear Diary," is a common diary entry in English, but there's no Japanese equivalent for that.

    Japanese girls &boys(young and old) just start writing without addressing the diary.

    You can say "Nikki(diary)-san" or "Nikki-kun(if your diary is a boy) " or give a name to it or whatever, but normally, you just start writing in.

  4. you dont really. you just start with the date.

    japanese people dont really talk to thier diaries ;)
