How would you break down the different categories of poetry?

A though goes on paper it may be long but what you don't know is you have created many poems in your writing that has several poems in a nut shell

In my opinion,

There are two broad groups, structured and free form. There are many different forms inside these groups which can be categorized as classical or modern.

I get in trouble when I use the term "free form." Lots of people believe I am misusing the term and should refer to all non-structured poetry as free verse. Sorry, I can't do that.
