We have a diet contest going on at work and they're doing it by percentage lost not lbs lost. How would you calculate the percentage lost?

  1. that the weight you lose and divide it by the original weight. then multiply that number by 100.

    say you weigh 170 originally and you lost 8 pounds.

    8 divided by 170=.047

    .047x100=4.7%

  2. Percentage lost = (old weight - new weight) / old weight

    For example, if you weighed 120 to start with, and you weighed 115 afterwards, your percentage lost would be (120 - 115) / 120 = 5/120 = 4.166667%

    But someone who lost 5 pounds and started at 150 would have a percentage lost of 5/150 = 3.33333%

  3. Step on a scale and measure you own weight. Divide the wight by 100. This value would represent 1%.

    Example: if your weight is 150 pounds, divide by 100 is 1.5 pounds or 1%. Whatever your weight loss may be, divide that number by the 1% value for total weight loss in percent.

  4. Multiply the weight lost by 100, then divide it by the original weight.

    For example 125lbs to start with, losing 10lbs:

    10 * 100 / 125 = 8% weight lost

  5. Percentage lost= (lbs lose)/(original total lbs) * 100 %

    from 100lbs down to 80 lbs:

    lbs lose : 20 lbs

    percentage lose= 20 lbs / (100 lbs ) *100% = 20%

    from 50lbs down to 30 lbs

    lbs lose : 20 lbs

    percentage lose= 20 lbs / (50 lbs ) *100% = 40%
