How would you compare football NOW versus Then?

Im a 21 year old man and the latest football game I can remember of any note was the 1998 Fifa World Cup. I had a conversation with this person who believed football was in a decline.

I disagreed.

But, I dont have much to compare recent footballing times with the past. I have seen football games in the latter half of the champions league as well as games between England's top four.

When they are playing at their best, there is a notable diff. between the "highest level" of football and what you see in CERTAIN national football games.

Were football teams in the past any better than they are now?

How would you sum up football Now versus Then?

well, i was nto there when marradona played. but i can spot out that the defence of players.
