  1. Well.. if you find a way to create an atmosphere on Mars, you would have this problem solved.

This is kind of a nice effect our atmosphere has. If (and the Earth's magnatic field will shut down for a while farely soon) the magnatic field wouldn't be there on Earth, the Solar wind crashing on the atmosphere creates a magnatic field by itself. So the side that is facing the sun has an automatic magnatic field that shields the Earth from the Solar wind even though the magnatic field the Earth has right now would not be there.

The magnetic field on Earth is getting weaker and weaker right now.. and will eventually shut down but also turn on again with the dipoles switched.

So.. just try to find a way to create an atmosphere on Mars and you won't have to worry about creating a magnetic field ;)

  2. I'd crash Vesta into Mars.   That'd stir the pot a bit.  It could also change the rotation rate from similar to Earth's to exactly like Earth's.

I'd use Ceres to introduce water, but i'm using it for my Venus project.

The reasonable man adapts himself to his environment.  The unreasonable man adapts his environment to himself.  Therefore all progress is due to unreasonable men.  Except, that i hope to do both.  Through genetic engineering, i hope to live long enough to finish the project.

  3. I wouldn't bother trying because the only reason Mars would need a magnetic field is for terraforming and personally terraforming in my opinion will never happen in this century or any other century so i would be happy just finding a nice deep lava tube or large magma chamber and building an underground habitat big enough for a hydroponics garden for me and who ever else happens to be with me, heck i bet i could get to Mars and set up a permanent outpost there for a little under 5 billion, sure i would have to cut a few corners to get there but hey fortune favours the bold. For instance instead of a cool looking Mars rover i would bring pogo sticks for everyone, just imagine how good they would work in 1/3 gravity, very efficient ( Just Kidding).

I got a virus from the link lol.

  4. I wouldn't bother trying.  You would need a molten core.  A particularly powerful God or Goddess might be capable of that sort of trick, but no one else.
