  1. did you not see the charter school in cleveland that had a shooting? it happens everywhere, at any school  a private or charter school is no different.  as for homeschool that is your decision.  to me there are risks at every corner.  i feel as if you shelter your children from the world how will they ever deal with it as adults?  we hide nothing from our children (10 year old twins).  we explain things so they can understand them, and answer questions THEY have.  i do not candy coat things or lie to them about the real world.  i do not scare my children with all the "wrongs" in the world, but i do explain to them that things happen and you deal with it when it comes.

  2. I'd take them out and homeschool them.  Tell hubby "sorry, but my kids come first".  Good luck

  3. my school had a bomb threat last year

and its a pretty fancy neighborhood.

it was taken seriously [of coarse.]

but it turned out to be nothing.

just some high school boys being retarded.

i would just forget it happend.

    unless it happens again.

    then take em out.

  4. I know what you are saying.  My daughters  school was evacuated last spring because a kid threatened he had a gun and was going to start shooting.  We live in a town of 3200 and the kids all know each other and have grown up together so it isnt something you would ever expect but you know what this was at a private Catholic school where you really wouldnt expect it.  I know exactly what you mean by you want to pull them out but you also have to look at it that although a bomb threat cant happen at home other tragedies can.  Things happen every where and just because you pull them out it doesnt mean they are any safer you just feel safer.  The main thing to look at here is the kids.  Do they want to go back to school, are they scared or was it a big adventure for them.  The deal at our school didnt phase my kids in the least but I was a nervous wreck every morning when I dropped them off.  You and hubby need to sit down and talk to the kids and make a desicion based on what is best for all of you.

  5. i would take my kids out of school no ? at all. i like the idea of being home-schooled.

  6. Hello im in middle school there was a rumor about a shooting going around my school. The was never a shooting at my school. But in you case its worse becuase you kid actually had to evacuated because of a bomb threat.I know that if i were you or your kid i would want to leave the school.Thats very scary.

  7. I don't think you should homeschool them.

They need the social aspect of school.

I suggest putting them in private or charter school [like you mentioned] and see how it goes.

There have always been bomb threats and such, its just stupid kids doing stupid things.

I would say if you live in a safe neighborhood and it happens once in their school lifetime there is no reason to pull them out of school.

  8. change to another school in your area , or suck it up and accept that these things can happen and every school has it happen sometime.

  9. I would homeschool too!  Your kids are what is important!  The town where the first school shooting happened is the town right next to mine and it is a really small town.  Our town is small too.  You just don't expect these things to happen, but they do.  I'm already thinking of keeping my kids home.  Just to be on the safe side.

  10. omg i hate and i mean hate schools when i have children i will home school them....there are WAY too many shooting and threats and its pissing me off that this world is getting so demonic....i feel for u but yes home school is the BEST thing but u want to enroll ur children in different activities so u dont ruin their social skills
