How would you define Subliminal?

Question

I have looked on websites such as Wikipedia & Dictionary.com but the person i need to break down this definition for still doesn't quite get the jist and i'm not sure how to further define it, Any ideas? Or any Similar words that have the same definition?

Under the comprehensive level.  Absorbed only by the sub-conscious.  Too fast/subtle to be recognized by the conscious mind.
