How would you define art?

Question

I know people have many different ways of defining art. What is yours?

This is just a general question to see how people think of art.

i think art is a drawing or sulpture. to show the beauty or the anger the emotions.

but now days for some sick twisted reason, tying up a dog and leaving it to die is art.

Imo, it would be very hard to label and define art.  It's an individual interpretation.  For me, it's fibers and textures beneath my fingers and needles in my hands.  I suppose it could all be clumped together simplistically under things creatively made....maybe.

Well i don't defi art like the pros(Emotion and the stuff) but i defi it as well ahhhhhh hmmmm things that pop up into my head and have a urge to draw it .  :)

I think art can be anything in the form of music, pictures, or writing that is either aesthetically pleasing (or extremely displeasing to prove a point), makes you think, or evokes some sort of strong emotion from its viewer. Well that's my kind of dry, technical definition.

It can have a combination of the qualities above but it should also be something that creatively allows the viewer inside the mind of the artist and their thoughts/feelings. This last one is the most broad criteria for art but when you enjoy doing something like playing music, or drawing or writing, it's impossible to keep from revealing some of yourself in your work and I think it's this elusive quality that all art shares. Everyone has something they want to express, whether they realize it or not.

Art is outward expression of intimate or not so intimate beliefs or ideas. There is beauty in everything to me, the duality of this planet in and of itself is PURE ART, made up by the imagination of many billions of people over millions of years.

All of the above, and then some. Art is creative, unique, personal, and internally inspiring. It can come in any form, but stirs something in the soul. It's a matter of opinion, so yes, maybe some might see p**n as art.

I think art is something that is created by man and has the ability to affect any one person in some kind of way.  The same piece of art could affect one person in a positive way and affect another person in a negative way, yet still have no affect on a third person.  Art is something that you have to have... or something you love to appreciate.. maybe even something you can't forget even if you want to.  There's also God's art.. or nature's art.. whatever you believe...  and we witness those miracles everday.

Anything audio, visual, or sensual that is pleasing to listen to, look at, or touch.  Something that makes me smile or feel at peace.
