My answer: It was disgusting, vitriolic, totally disrespectful, and it must have taken every ounce of energy for the Chinese to not take their bats and balls and simply go home. I hope Rio receives 2016 if this is the sort of behaviour we can expect from Americans in Chicago.

  1. Who cares?, they're not much better, they support and trade with disgusting regimes all, over the world!

    That's Capitalism for you!.

  2. per capita Australia is the best easily.. China will not be a super power, they are a communist country. In 20 years India will be a super power.

I agree we all want to be like America... Let's face it we do have alot to thank them for, we could all be talking Japanese or German if it wasn't for them!

  3. picky, biased, exaggerating and political.so are some of its western lackeys.I think their goverment and media will get the favor returned to them as karma in the future.hopefully it's not 911 again.

  4. You'd be crazy if you don't think China will become a world superpower in 20 years, in fact they already are. Communist? Don't make me laugh, that country's economic and political system is in no way in pursuit of any socialist ideology or Marxism in general. Can a Communist country grow their economy 10% annually for 30 years straight and still going strong? Will the Western world even do business with China if they were still Communists? They are as money hungry as the American Capitalists.

India as a superpower? They're not living up to their potentials and probably won't be for a long time. They've had their chance, and it doesn't seem nearly as significant when compared to China's stunning development over a small window of time. America's bet in India is pretty much coming to an end, do you think you're better informed/smarter than the guys at Wall-Street?

It doesn't matter what America's attitude towards China is, because in the end they love China. Why wouldn't any Capitalist country love the fact that China has the biggest pool of potential capable consumers on the face of this plannet?

  5. That description sounds more like your atittude rather than ours.

No American wrestler threw down a bronze medal and made a tantrum like a 5 year old like that Swedish guy. No American Tae-Kwon-Do athlete attacked a referee with a kick for a bad call like that guy from Cuba. If there was any reason to protest for a bad call, American athletes like that tennis player addressed the referee and respectfully protested and just accepted and got back to the game when the referee stood by his decision. Oh, but don't let that get in your way of ranting like a total a**.

And Jeff in Dallas said it best.

  6. Would like to know what attitude competing American athletes in general hold before and after the games. I know Kobe and Phelps have a very positive attitude towards China and most importantly its people.

I never set a foot in U.S so my attitude towards America is all about Iraq war and securing its oil supply by supporting Arabian monarchies which respect no human rights at all(do most of Americans cry for China's human rights records?). But honestly my such an attitude would be very biased as there are Americans who has more objective attitude towards China have seen what China is really like by living in or simply travelling to the country. Isn't something called coastal Americans v.s. inland Americans?

The best way to understand China would be travel around the country by yourself rather than receiving some sort of biased reports from so-called source of truth (some reporters' IQ may not be beyond yours and they report to make a living).

To shannon h, I am an Aussie too, and China is a communism country? You better do some homework of sociology and economic history before making a dump statement in front of world audience. Don't let others think we Aussies are ignorant too.

  7. Americans think they are superior but they are cocky b******s and they got what t hey deserved they got owned in the medal tally.

In 20 years time when China is megapower they will laugh at your ***.

  8. oh come on!

China's government would be the equivalent to our media if we host the Olympics. Its all international competition no matter what anyone says. Powerful countries bash on each other all the time. =)

  9. is this not just a racial thread?

most of these answers are comparing America to China. In fact, they all are!

plus, there is no way to tell where either country will be in a year or few. we maybe enemies, we may be allies. Im from America, i'll admit that alot of people are rude and mean, but how can you say that from wherever you live, your country does not have these kinds of people?

  10. what did they do wrong??

  11. dunno , but its just fantanic they got knocked off for once ,  jeeer haaa

  12. funny how if you were born american, or chinese you would have completely different views

  13. Jealous.

  14. Not sure how the American think.  But my humble opinion is, they better start learning Chinese now.

Just look at the US economy, they are just sliding downward everyday.

  15. Typical.

Exactly what you'd expect from them.

  16. I can't understand how you can all put down the Americans.  When all that I can see is every country tries to be like the Americans when it suits them.

  17. At first it was positive.  The opening ceremony was great.  the American TV announcers were gushing praise about how great it was and about Chinese history and tradition.

Then the US volleyball coach's father was stabbed to death in the street of Beijing.  Then China cheated in the gymanastics competition.  Citizens who applied for a permit to protest in the designated areas were arrested.  Families of athletes could not get tickets, yet the seats were 1/3 empty, only to find the chinese gov't held some of the tickets to keep the crowds controlled.  The list goes on.  So Americans attitudes turned sour after day 1.

Overall it was pretty good for a third-world country who can't even provide clean drinking water to 50% of its population yet spends $20 billion on a 10day sporting event.

  18. i think that America's (and the rest of the West's) attitude toward China is terrible and unfair! The West totally looks down upon China and think badly of them and they do not nearly give them the respect that they deserve and all they do is bash China! and everyone just thinks that China is cheating or doesn't deserve the gold! so annoying!
