  1. What?

  2. We read all the books.  We took all the classes. We discussed it ahead of time.  Then the first baby came, and we discovered the "trial-and-error," "learn-by-doing," and "wing-and-a--prayer" approaches.  They all grew up.  They are all doing fine.

  3. Ok I can't use one of your terms but I will describe it for you...

" If mom ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

This roughly means that if you break my rules I will punish you. My rules are not up for discussion. You can not negotiate a later curfew and if you try mom ain't happy anymore.

When my children pay their own bills then and only then do they get to make the rules.

  4. Actively involved, respectful & loving teacher & guide.

  5. I take more the spare the rod spoil the child view, though let me make clear that "the rod" does not automatically equal spanking in our book.  The "rod" is discipline in our book.  We are advocates of traditional "old fashioned" parenting.  It was how both me and my husband were raised and it's how we plan on raising our children.  We are firm, loving, consistent and caring.  We are open for discussion if one of our children has a problem with a rule that we have but in the end we have the final say being the parents of the house.  We take a Biblical approach to parenting as well, raising our children as God has called us to.

I refuse to use permissive parenting or this new age parenting.  My children will not contribute to the new generation of undisciplined, spoiled children.  They will have manners, respect for others and themselves, and they will know to do to the right thing.
