  1. the Prophet Muhammad was the seal of all prophets, the last one.

so anyone claiming to be one is a FALSE prophet

  2. Only the fulfillment of scripture can disprove a false prophet, anyone can call themselves a prophet or messiah but unless the scripture is fulfilled, these "prophets" are cult leaders and charlatans.

  3. Trying to push others into their belief system.

  4. How do you prove a "real" prophet?

  5. I would say that all prophets are false.

  6. Deuteronomy 18:20-22 describes the qualifications for a false prophet.

  7. If they make a prediction that doesn't come to pass, they are a false prophet.

If their words, lifestyle, and teachings are not in absolute harmony with the Bible, they are a false prophet.

  8. Who cares about the false ones!  If you see a false prophet, don't follow him.  Simple as that.

Fighting Satan isn't the same as following Christ.

The bible states that there would be false prophets in these last days, it also states that there would be prophets in these days.  I choose to follow the spirit of God shown in John 16 to determine who is who and am confident in my choice.

I follow the council of Gamaliel in Acts 1 when it comes to the notion of a false prophet - leave them alone.  If they are from God and I'm wrong nothing can stop them, if they're not they will fade away.

This fits perfectly into the description of the LDS church.  Joseph Smith was killed by a mob with black faces and sinful hearts over 150 years ago in a effort to disband his followers.  It didn't work.  The LDS church is the 4th largest and fastest growing mainstream religion in the US and growing far faster outside of the US as well.  The attacks on the prophets - even the fatal attack did nothing to stop it.

On the opposite end you've got some guy in Florida claiming to be the Christ incarnate and asking for money right now, I feel that his claims are selfish and blasphemous; he'll be forgotten.  He'll be forgotten like David Coresh and Warren Jeffs who in a few short years will be names young people don't know while true prophets leave a name that is never tarnished by time.

EDIT:  Duet 18:20-22 doesn't say what people think it says.  The text tells us not be afraid of that prophet.  People need to read the scruiptures line by line with a dictrionary rather than taking someone elses interpretation for fact.

"When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously [ which means overstepping ones bounds ] : thou shalt not be afraid [ fearful, disliking, or rejecting ] of him. "

It's attributed to Moses, himself an imperfect man.  Obviously he didn't state that we need to run from him is we see his imperfections since especially in the OT we often see imperfections in prophets. He was speaking of the only perfect prophet to come, Jesus Christ who is also our Savior.  But clearly he's not telling us to dismiss men for their failings.

  9. Along with Deut. see also  1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

We are to not only listen to what they say but to see what they do. If they are of God it will be apparent. If not it will show also. The difficult thing is to be able to tell the difference. We need to not believe everything they say unless and until we examine it for ourselves.

  10. Everything a prophet teaches should go hand in hand with the scriptures.  Since when do the scriptures become outdated?

  11. I as a saint would stand up head to head with the false prophet and admonish him.

I would wear a cap and sunglasses and stand with my arms akimbo and admonish him squarely.

Hold on, what was the question again?

    .

  12. I guess the best way is to ask your father in Heaven if the person is a prophet or not.  Read James 1:5.  God will always reveal truths to those who seek them.

In actual practice.... if the person claims to be a prophet and wants you to follow them- and doesnt encourage you to ask God if His claims are true- he's probably not a prophet.

If the person gives you teachings and tells you to ask God if they are true or not, he is probably a prophet.

As for PROVING it, if you are looking for worldly proof, remember, not to get into debates for the spirit of contention is the spirit of that evil one.  Seek for your own knowledge and encourage others to do the same.

  13. "If they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them."  Isaiah 8:20
