  1. Algebra.  You have to get it so the equation balances out.  Since this is just addition/subtraction, it's not that hard.  You add "2x" to both sides of the equation.  This cancels out the "-2x" on the left, but keeps the value in the equation, putting a "+2x" on the right side.  So the equation winds up being.............   y = 2x + 7
