  1. i wouldn't even attempt it.... i'd let them chose to waste money on higher car tax & more petrol consumption...their choice!

  2. Just lie to him.

Tell him you heard we were going to run out.

People are gullible , so keep saying it , he will eventually believe it .

It's a pretty hard sell though , especially for someone who can afford a good vehicle like that.

If 4 dollar a gallon gas doesn't keep someone from consuming gas , what will ?

  3. Cars are expensive.  If I'm paying that much for one I buy the one I want.  Guess what.  Its not some tiny, slow, uncomfortable subcompact POS.

  4. With $4/gallon gas, all you have to do is explain the importance of saving money.

  5. Well, being that people care far more about money than their own planet, you have to explain how much cash they could save by being more fuel efficient.

That's what happened with a friend of mine. His boss couldn't care less about the environment, but when he told him that he'd save an extra 5 grand or more each year he ran right out and bought the most fuel efficient truck he could get.

but then, people who drive those things generally have so much money that they could afford gas even if it went to 10 bucks a gallon, so it's honestly pretty futile. they drive guzzlers, thats it and thats all

  6. What is the importance of saving energy?

I hope it doesn't involve that rubbish about climate change.

  7. That would be based upon why the bought the vehicle.

To you a work truck that burns diesel but is used to climb hills and very rough terrain might be viewed as a 'gas guzzler'  but would in the work scene be a necessity.

On the flip side, these giant Chevy Tahoe's  Cadi's Escalade, Toyota Pathfinders and the Range Rovers are more of a joke than a practical auto.

  8. You keep driving your little piece of tin and leave me alone.

  9. Well, how do you think all of those filthy rich Saudi's and others from the Middle East got so rich?  We've been using and wasting gasoline for decades!  If you like purchasing products like oil that support countries that support terrorism, then by all means keep guzzling gas to your heart's content!

Oh, it's also bad for the environment, if you care about that kind of thing.

  10. Why bother, if they can afford it what's the problem?

If you're thinking of the environment problem that's complete tosh. Farting cows poduce far more Co2 than cars. So the best thing to do is to stop eating beef.

  11. You have to explain it in terms of their check book, show them a cost comparison between SUV's and sedans and show them how much they could save at home by insulating their house better.

  12. I do not really think you would have to explain to anyone. I bet he/she already knows only too well, because of price increases on fuel and all the articles about it in newspapers and on TV.  The fact is if they can afford it most people will carry on guzzling.
