I just read this article on CNN about how some guys have engineered microbes to excrete (specifically) diesel fuel. http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/08/12/bug.diesel/index.html

Do you think that this is a very plausible source for energy?

Do you think it will distract from environmental issues?

  1. It's just another ploy to get people to feed their money to the oil industry. DON'T FALL FOR IT! All we need is sun, water, and wind.Period.

  2. I'll just burm my wvo,and wmo until my 55 gal barrel full of c**p and sugar, starts making diesel.

  3. It sounds promising, but they still may have some challenges ahead.  They would have to do it on a much larger scale and they would need a readily renewable source of organic material.  Cutting down forests to make fuel wouldn't be environment-friendly.

  4. It is not a plausible source for energy and it will not be all that renewable, it is just some hokey science to trick people. Looking for new fuels to waste is not going to change anything except for the worst, what we need to look into is making better cheaper bikes, for instance taking the price down on a Banchi Veloce from thousands to hundreds and work on ways of making bikes even more eco friendly by exploring bamboo (which does work and works quite well as I have heard) and also working on other pedal powered options.
