I think it's really out of order ~ after all the people wanting a holiday are just ordinary people like themselves.

  1. I'd be rather p'd off, but then I would make sure I had my passport ready long before it could spoil my holiday if it did get held up.

  2. Considering you are a major contributor in current events you got caught short with this month old story from a timed out so-called newspaper (ha-ha)

Why would you expect this paper to give an upbeat report on such an issue? They are enjoying their exaggeration because their frightened and gullible readers swear by every word.

You had 10 years to plan this passport application but decide to wait for this strike to kick in.

Get a crystal ball and calm down by reading the Daily Mail

So have you got a passport or just whinging for the sake of it?

  3. if you cant replace a passport within at least six months of going on holiday should that person be trusted to leave the city never mind the country the way the economy is going you wont need a passport more like a rations book

  4. Completely pissed off

  5. More Daily Mail spin again.  Only those who left getting their passports to the last minute will be affected - and if they had booked their holidays months ago and didn't sort out their passports in time, I don't have much sympathy for them.  Those booking last minute holidays should have checked their passports first.

  6. Well they wont spoil my holiday because I got my passport in plenty of time.  Just like most ordinary people - its only idiots that leave getting a passport to the last minute.

They are fully entitled to take industrial action as they, like any public sector worker, have ha dtheir wage rise capped by a Government that can't cap fuel cost or control inflation.  Don't know about them but some of my colleagues in local government have just had a tax increase from 10% to 20%, fuel bills increased by 40%, inflation up to 4% and have been told they can have 2.5% pay rise and lump it.  Bet my MP got more than that.

  7. people are entitled to rights, and people should get sorted well in advance

  8. pi55ed

  9. Only three days.Apply in plenty of time then no problem.People do not go on strike for fun.

  10. Read the story.

There are 150,000 applications in the pipeline.  The Mail then twistt this fact into "Strikers wreck 150,000 holidays"  Not the same thing.

People who followed the guidelines and applied in plenty of time will not be affected because three days out of a month is nothing.

Only the people who leave things to the last minute will be affected.

Furthermore, you should look at the story again and see where this figure of "150,000" cam from

  11. They have done this every year for the last how many? It wouldn't be summer in Liverpool Passport office without mile long queues full of anxious people.

I do agree that you would be stupid to leave it that late for a planned holiday but some poor sod somewhere will suffer through no fault of his own.

I know a few people who worked in the passport office and apparently it's pretty c**p in terms of how they are treated and morale and such like, but if they keep doing the same thing year in year out they will lose any sympathy.

Luckily I don't need a passport for Shropshire, but I may need a few shots ;-)

  12. I would be pissed it seems like they absolutely no consideration....

  13. I would be hopping mad, you spent your year saving and then just as you have sorted out the details some t**t comes along and says we are on strike you can;t travel because of no passport or we want more money, time we sorted out this nightmare passport problem full stop.

  14. It's disgraceful!!

  15. That's exactly how they make their point. Sticking the knife in where it hurts.

  16. Speaking personally i'd make double sure my passport was valid long before my intended trip just to prevent disappointment & that's in normal circumstances never mind allowing for the possibility for a strike.
