How would you feel if your parents didn't call you at all on your birthday?

They sent a card... but didn't call. nor the next day. I'm the oldest of 5 - the only one who has moved out (I'm 29, not some runaway teen :-))

if my mum didn't call i would be really hurt but to be honest i have never heard from my dad since i was five so it wouldn't bother me if he never called cause he ain't called once it 13 years lol

I don't have to imagine, I know, because this year my father ignored my birthday because we'd had a fight over a piano he promised to give me, but decided he wanted to give to someone else. I told him, a gentleman is only as good as his word, but he didn't care. I have no father.

I feel fine if my parents don't call on my birthday - but then, I don't often call on theirs, either.

I would feel hurt too. I think that you should call them and say something like, " So what's the deal, no phone call for your 29 year old daughter on her birthday? That hurts." Or you could be more serious and tell them that you really would have appreciated a call from them on your birthday. Your feelings aren't dumb and there's nothing wrong with letting your parents know that you would still appreciate their attention despite your adult status.

Have you always been close to them?  Have they always called before? I would just call them in the am and tell them you were hurt by it. Maybe they just thought you were "at that age now" and they needed to back off a bit.

maybe they think a card is good enough. dont mind them, maybe in the past have they been good parents to u?

Yeah, that would bother me, but if there are still 4 other kids at home, maybe they got distracted or busy? I think my first reaction would be worry - is everything okay??? But yeah, it'd be tough to not feel some hurt. We're close to the same age, and I still look forward to Dad calling and singing Happy Birthday off-key.

I would feel really bad, but then again I'm an only child!
