  2. learn the new language Actually I worked for a few days with a guy who spoke no English, we got a lot done.

  4. This has happened to me.....

    I use hand gestures....such as bringing a cup to my mouth to indicate...drinking...or pretend to hold a fork to my mouth to eat...

    Most people are more than willing to work with you to help communicate.....

    I did have the most trouble in Italy...but even that went very well....

    If you are exposed long enough...you will learn the language.

  5. I lived in a remote part of France for a couple of years, nobody could speak enough English to converse, it was quite tough at first. By the time I left however, my French was fluent, everybody could understand me.
