How would you feel.....?

if say a few years from now a really prominent, successful, popular driver retired and said that all along NASCAR was fake, and scripted? Like say, Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart.

I am not trying to debate whether it is or not, and most of us know how eachother feel about that. But this is a very hypothetical "what if".

Would you continue to watch?

  1. I'd have to think that they had either lost their minds or really needed some money.  I don't think that I could believe that it was true.

If they were able to prove it, it would probably be more than my tiny brain could handle.  My next address would be the psych ward.  lol

Great question - have a star on me.  :  )

  2. People watch the WWE don't they

  3. sure I would still watch, but I would wonder what happened to "dude" that made him lose his mind like that. It's sad there are so many diseases and plagues that can effect the human brain, but we should be more receptive to peoples inability to live a life without suffering. I would feel sad for that old retired "dude", but he probably would've faded out of the lime light a long time ago.

  4. Nascar is for us people that hate wrestling.  We can tell that it is scripted and that it is fake.  Kinda hard to fake "the big one" at talladega, or even fake a fight on pit road.  Nascar will live forever, even if kyle busch retires and whines like a littel baby.

  5. I don't know...it isn't anywhere near possible sooooo...it's too hard to imagine.  I'd say yes and think the guy saying that was senile and trying to recapture his glory days.

  6. hypothetically that situation would never occur so yes i would still watch

  7. no frickn way

  8. I'd watch it and tell them to come up with better storylines.

  9. For it to occur "hypothetically" then NASCAR would need to be able to control who they would want as a winner. In order to do that they would need total control of "EVERY ASPECT" of the car, which they do now, with the COT. The cars all look identical as far as body styles goes so basically their is no aerodynamic advantage a team can have unless the NASCAR inspectors allows a team to have an advantage.

As far as engine and horsepower advantages who knows what the actual test results are from  tests other than NASCAR themselves. Are all teams allowed to sit and watch as NASCAR performs these tests and determines the results from engine tests?

With that said then it IS VERY POSSIBLE for NASCAR to fix races, to allow drivers cautions to a certain driver's advantage, and penalties to a certain driver's disadvantage. Also who knows if a NASCAR official decided not to say anything about a jet fuel additive in the intake of a car (Toyota)? What if they let an over sized fuel tank slide so someone can win a fuel mileage race (Ryan Newman when Nextel first took over the series dominated)? I happens all the time so yes hypothetically IT CAN AND DOES HAPPEN.

The people who have a blind eye to these sort of things could say "That could never happen" and "You're crazy" and continue acting like everything is okay until their driver is no longer in the spotlight and losing races. The people who really pay attention would recognize it and grow tired of putting up with the same old "BS". That may be part of the reason NASCAR can't fill the stands at races any more is because this year is the same as last year. With NASCAR having "total control" they can't keep the playing field level?

I have lost a lot of interest in the sport as it is now. It's become predictable, the same as last year. The only reason I still watch is to  verify that what I feel is reality and not just speculation. It will not be long before all interest is gone.

Like Tony Stewart said. They might as well just script it and tell everyone where they want to finish at.

  10. yes s***w what others think

  11. While I believe there are some things NASCAR can do to tweak a race a bit (cautions as a for instance), I don't think you could get 43 guys to agree to a scripted race. They are competetive beings and I believe personalities would out weigh scripts.

  12. No, I wouldn't watch anymore and I would be disgusted with myself for wasting so much time when I could have been doing something else that was worthwhile.

  13. Yes I would, I am a loyal fan..and is Nascar was fake (people would think it is true for a while--but then they get the punch line of the joke--not true.)

No in all seriousness, I would watch it even if it was and I would want to know how they did some of the crashes like Michael McDowell when he flipped 8 times.
