How would you keep from someone coming into our house?

Well there has been a lot of robberies in our neighborhood. The have started on the first street and worked their way down. They are now on the 12th house and we are the 14th. They come and rob every 2 days, so I have four days to figure something out. They do it when we are all asleep. I am so scared because we just moved out here. Everytime they come and rob someone, the person in that house will call 911 but they leave before the police department get there. They get frustrated with us because they think we are just calling them to call them. So now they won't come out when we really need them. I am just really scared and need something to do to stop them and to proved that they were robbing!

A 12 gauge pump will keep them out unless you live in Britain then I guess you will need a glass full of acid or just run away.

Make sure everything is locked. Post lights outside all around the house. The criminals dont want to be seen. A dog is a good idea as well even if it is a smallone. The noise from a dog barking alerts you and others to the fact something is going on. Next if you are not afraid to use it get a gun. Dont get a gun unless you can\will use it though.  My wiem and 870 have kept my house and family safe for years.

OKay first of all....you can't just shoot someone that walks into your house. Look up "castle doctrine" and note that it is ILLEGAL. You cannot shoot or harm anyone until they give you reasonable fear that they are there to harm you. SO if someone is just coming in to steal stuff, you can't kill them for that.

Second, you don't have to make your home the safest on the block, you just have to make it harder to break into than the house next door. Make sure doors and windows are ALL locked. (I know this sounds stupid and obvious but you would be suprised how often robbers get in this way), make sure you leave some lights on throughout the house, I personally like to keep the TV on....keep your phone by your bed, etc.

DO NOT arm yourself.

WHatever you choose to arm yourself with will most often be used against you....so  pick something you wouldn't mind being attacked with. It sounds morbid but most injuries and deaths occur when the other person is trying to protect themself and the weapon is wresteled away.

A dog is another great deterrant. Most people just consider a medium sized dog to be to much trouble and won't even consider trying to break in.

Click,click,boom.....I'll be damned if anyone breaks into my house while I'm there and doesn't get a gun aimed at them. I'll fire ONE warning shot, after that the gloves are off and they'll go down if they don't get the h**l out of my house.

get to your local k-mart and buy 2 BB gun pistols that look the real thing. and take turns keeping watch. they also sell door and window chime alarms in sets of for at home depot. my uncle just paid 150.00 for video monitor for the front door of his house because people are breaking into cars in his neighborhood. in my state Tazers are illegal but i go one from the next state and i have mase so you should try that too.

leave all the lights on and a radio or TV playing low downstairs. maybe they might think you are up. make sure everything is locked at night. you could get wood from home depot and put it in any patio doors and windows to stop sliding. keep a camera or camcorder handy to to catch the bad guys if they get in. get some friends or fam over cause you cant stop it  alone.

please be careful! i had some young guys lurking in the driveway of my apt. building a few years back and when i pointed that BB gun out the window they took of running and never came back!
