  1. get an antivirus

    try grisoft.com

  2. If the web site look like junk, spelling is bad, or makes claims that are too good to be true.  And especially web sites that hide behind a proxy to prevent you from knowing the true IP address or the owner of the web site.

I use a software out of New Zealand, called ¨Smart Whois¨, and when I open any webpage that look strange,  or if I want to purchase a software from them, I always run my Smart Whois, to see what is their domain address and their IP address.  This data will tell me if they are a scam or not.

You can also download McAfee site advisor as it is free.

    Mind Doctor, France

  3. Personally, I use Norton 360, which includes phishing protection.  It checks websites you visit against their own database of fraudulent websites, and alerts you if you navigate to them.  Norton 360 is one of many software packages that offer this kind of protection.

A manual way of ensuring a websites authenticity is to check the URL of the page.  In the address bar, make sure the address is what you expect.  While a valid website looks like "http://www.visa.com" a fraudulent website might look like "http://www.visa.lgsq.hk"  (always be watchful of .hk domains, a study found that the .hk domain had the highest rate of phishing and scam sites)

The best bet is when you are asked to go to a website where you need to enter personal data (a banking website for example), always type in the address of the main page manually, rather than clicking any hyperlinks to it.

And always remember, no legitimate online service will ever ask you for your password via email.

  4. Sometimes when i search online for a translater, when i click on it, all of a sudden it goes to a p**n website. i don't know why, and i just want to know the reason how it could happen.

Norton is the worst antivirus program in the world.

Get avast or kaspersky, those are the second grades.

I used to use avg, normally their program is 1 week late
