How would you know if someone that spent a long time in prison was raped?

You could watch the way they walk, I suppose.  Also, I'd have to guess they go to the bathroom more because they can't hold it in anymore.  Hard to say since I've never really cared to find out.

Unless they tell you, you will never know.  However, what is common in mens' state prison facilities is the concept that a man having s*x with another man is NOT homosexuality.  Rather, it is considered a necessity.

its pretty hard to tell because most people would be to asshamed to admit something like that. just tell them if they ever need to talk that youll be there for them & if they ever do decide to talk to you about it listen and be understanding. deff. do NOT go around telling ppl there business. show that they can trust you and they probably open up to u.

Why would you need to know?

I recognize that this contradicts previous responses, and flies in the face of common belief, but the incidence of rape in American prisons is actually down to about 3% or less.  It is theorized that the majority of those that are reported are more a case of vendetta, or post regretful coitus.  Incidentally, the most common offenders in the prison rape scenario are correctional facility employees, guards, etc.

Before any of you continue to float your unqualified opinions, at least talk to a former prisoner.  Get your fact straight.
