You mean computer virus on your PC? On the left or right program icon screen,right click any program icon then click "Scan for virus" then follow the directions.

You WILL know when your computer starts not working as expected.  Of course, other problems can give strange symptoms, but most of the time it is related to an infection (be it a virus, trojan, or worm).

If you are unsure of the security of your PC, update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

Restart your PC in safe mode, and run a full scan with both.

Disable any you do not use.

After you reboot back to normal mode, download and install ccleaner to fix any registry problems and clean up old temp files.

You won't. Because if you have anti virus it will report immediately, pause download [if download is in question] and wait for your further instructions. If you have no anti virus you wouldn't know it. And it will damage your computer.

Some good antivirus softwares are: NOD32, Kaspersky, AVG.
