How would you number these?

Question

You have 4 cards with numbers and are told to label 4 rooms 1,2,3,4. You open a door and behind it you see a short hallway with 2 doors on the left and 2 on the right. In what order do you lable the 4 rooms? Clockwise, counterclockwise, fronnt to back? some other way?

I'd probably number them odd numbers on one side, even on the other:

That would be like a street number sequence.

My second choice would be clockwise.

It would depend somewhat on the function of the space.
