I saw some solutions with ducktape... but that seems like the lazy solution. Sewing seems useless (it will tear) Gluing seems bad too (I can't think how they would stay together)

  1. Use polyseamseal chaulking compound

  2. You might want to try air conditioning vent tape. It is very sticky and I would highly reccommend it.

  3. silicone based chaulk works ok...

  4. There may be some glues that are water based that might work, but I doubt they will work well.  Any kind of chemical based glue will probably "melt" your foam, depending on whether it is like urethane (squishy) or styrofoam (rigid).

The only time I have seen foam glued and held is foam that comes in layers and a very thin layer of glue is placed between the sheets.  Never seen end to end or edge to edge hold.  Heat will simply melt it and be unsightly and difficult and potentially dangerous--fumes, melted foam burning you.

It would appear to me that the only way to join them is to use an external source, as you say, like duct tape or some kind of transparent tape.  Even then, you won't get good holding power.

  5. Upholsterers use a spray glue made just for gluing foam to foam and Dacron to foam.   It's a permanent solution if you spray both sides and let the glue dry before joining.  You can also make it temporary by spraying one side.
