  1. Bruce Springsteen. Played his own music with his own band. Was his own roadie for a while. Finally hit it big after 20 years of working his butt off playing small town clubs and gigs for years.

    Jimmy Buffett. Was an okay country music singer in Nashville. Had a one-hit wonder with Margaritaville. Took off for Key West when Nashville wanted him to change his tune. Took his band on the road. Has never had to look back. A lot of the "Deadheads" who used to follow the Grateful Dead now are "Parrotheads" following Jimmy Buffett. Opened up his own chain of "Margaritaville" themed stores and restaurants cashing in on Hawaiian print shirts and Cheeseburgers in Paradise and Margaritas in Margaritaville.

    Simon Cowell. Used to be a record producer of one-hit-wonders in England. Now is churning out even worse one-hit wonders on American Idol and does it all while being an ****.
