The name Haleigh?

Personally I would say Hal - ee but on a name website it said it was pronounced like Hayley. I just needed some input from others on this.

Also, how do you like the name Ryleigh (or Rileigh) Marie?

I'm actually not a big fan of changing the spellings of names but it's important to me to include "-leigh" in the first name.

  1. I would pronounce it Ha-lee as well. I know a girl name Haley (I think it should be pronouced Ha-lee) and she pronounces it Hay-lee. I think some parents just like weird spellings and don't realize when you change letters around it also changes how you should pronouce it.

I like the name Ryleigh Marie for a girl. It cute and it's spelt how you pronouce it.

  2. i would pronounce that Hal-lee. i would spell Hay-lee, Hailey or Haylee (i prefer Hailey).

i don't like the name Ryleigh at all for a girl.

i've seen is spelled a thousand ways,  Riley, Ryelee (which is how i spelled it for a pet's name), Rileigh, Rieley, Ryleigh, and Rilee. i just dis-like this name for a girl. the only way that looks remotely "feminine" to me is Rileigh or Ryleigh.

My SIL named my niece Alynn Keleigh. (Alan Kelly) Alynn after her father and Keleigh after her mother, but she wanted a different spelling.

it's not something i personally would have done, but this was to be her last child (due to serious medical conditions) so she wanted to honor her father and her mother....thus Alynn Keleigh was named.

you can pretty much use Leigh on any "ley" ending name i guess.

    Calleigh/Kaleigh (for Callie)

    Haleigh (for Hallie)

    Haileigh/Hayleigh (for Hailey)

    Keleigh (for Kelly)

    Braleigh (for Braylee)

    Pasleigh (for Pasley)

    Ainsleigh (for Ainsley)

    Kayleigh (for Kaylee)

    Baileigh (for Bailey)

    Carleigh (for Carly)

    Marleigh (for Marly)

    etc.

again...not my style but if the Leigh is important to you, you can use it for many names.

  3. I was actually planning on using the name "RYLEIGH"

at one point in time, Leigh is my mothers name... hmm

Haleigh- To me sounds like Ha- ( Like haaaaaa-t ) and then Leigh

    Holly but with an Aa.

Why not just name the baby Leigh?

    Meg

  4. I'd pronounce Haleigh as Hay-lee

Ha-lee is spelt either Harley or Halle.  The pronunciation of Ha-lee is only popular in America I think, I've never heard of it

Ryleigh would be pronounced as Rye-lee

  5. I would pronounce it Ha-lae!

  6. When I first read Haleigh, I pronounced it Hayley. Ryleigh is pretty for a girl. like it

  7. i like the name kayleigh

and it has leigh in it

and then there would be no confusions with the hal in the beginning of haleigh.

  8. Yes looks like hailey i like Riley

  9. Though phonetically it should be pronounced 'hal-ee' like you said I think 'Hay-lee' is so much more common it is just the pronunciation that is assumed. Immediately I thought 'Haylee'...

I prefer Ryleigh its pretty cute. I like the spelling Rylie better, but I guess that part is all up to you.

  10. When I see Haleigh I would pronounce like Hallie. no y sound because there is no y or i there to make it sound that way.

  11. It would be Hay-lee. I like it. But Im not to much a fan of Ryleigh for a girl.

How about Cayleigh, Bayleigh, or put something together like Ana Leigh

  12. Well when I first read the name I thought it was hah-lee.. I know a person named Haleigh but people think its Hayley.. like one of my best friends name is Jalisa (Ja-lisa) but people call her Ja-liss-a.

And I like the name Ryleigh, I just think it looks a little funny like that... but its pretty.

    I have friends/relatives named:

    Leigh, (lee or lay)

    Leigha, (as in Princess Leia)

    Ashleigh (Ashley)

    Caleigh  (Kaylee)

    Haleigh  (Hah-lee)

    Hayleigh (Hayley)

    Kyleigh  (Kiley)

    Leighton  (Lay-ten/ton)

Raleigh -->  She is named after  the place where she was... anywho... and its pronounced the same and its in North Carolina

    Ryleigh (Ryley)

  13. To me that would be Ha-lee.

  14. i would say "hey-lee"

    i dont really like ryleigh

    do you like anna leigh?

    =)

  15. i would say ha-lee, too. there is not another letter after the 'a' to make it a long 'a' sound like in 'hayley'. and i know someone with the name Haleigh, spelled that way so, im used to seeing it that way, haha.

  16. u americans r stupid.obviously its pronounced hay-ley...if its not first grade spelling do u not no how 2 pronounce it?the name 4 the one u think it should b pronounced ha-leigh would b halle,like halle berry...duh

  17. Yup, Haleigh is pronounced Hayley and Ryleigh is pronounce the same but with "Rye" at the start.

I think they are lovely names and best of luck picking the name!
