How would you push the sales of bottled beer in a bar?

For example bottles of stella, holsten pills etc.

The only draught lager there is is Carlsberg export and extra cold. What ideas to push the bottled beers? In terms of display or any other way? Where the fridges are at the back of the bar, we hav little cubby holes going down the sides of them which are empty. Any ideas for these holes?

  1. Not much of a beer drinker, but one thing that always makes me want a drink is when there is a wash tub filled with ice and water and the drinks are submerged in it and are in full view.  They just look refreshing.  That works for beer, sodas, etc.

  2. Girls in dripping wet t-shirts that say 'Stella Artois' on them.

Another option is have a trivia competition or something and give the winner a free bottle. Once people get to try them, they might like them and keep going back.

Jack the price up a dollar and then sell it at a widely-publicized dollar discount on weekends, make it seem like a deal.

Offer them a chilled/frosted glass to pour the drink into, instead of sipping it out of a bottle.  You get much better head from a glass, and can appreciate the color more.

Start stacking the bottles used every day in a pyramid type thing, when people see that something interesting is being done with the bottles they'll be more likely to order them to contribute.

  3. Tell patrons that the taps have a weird taste! LOL

If your drinking it or your regs are then that is your best advertising. You can have whatever pretty pics you like, and they may work on some, but seeing things for yourself is the best way to try it!

  4. you should have the fridges full, with new products in the middle and well known brands at the top or bottom. the middle is where everyone eye is naturally drawn.

some good point of sale around, such as beer mats and posters which you can get from your supplier.

you could also do offers on your bottles on certain nights, like an after work club between 5pm and 7pm to encourage office and shop workers to buy them

for the cubby holes you could put a wine display or use it to store spare bottles of spirits or wine.

  5. Only lager on tap is Carlsberg? Booo that is rubbish! Consider replacing the ordinary C. export with Stella - that way you wouldn't be having to try and think of ways to push the bottle sales.

Only thing I can think is to put an offer on, say 5 bottles for the price of 4? Do your customers strain over the bar trying to see what's inside the fridges? If so make sure you have a few of them well displayed outside of the fridges, and offer to put them in branded glasses.

You don't say what kind of a bar it is - is it a well known chain pub, or are you a stand-alone classy cocktail bar or a restaurant?  This makes all the difference as to how you push the bottled beers....

  6. have special promotions, ask the beer sellers for posters advertising etc,  ask them also for spot prizes and have quiz nights ........put adds up around pub etc........lessen the price for a little while to promote also ......speak with the suppliers and ask them about ideas for promoting the beer its up to them really

  7. Have a happy hour and only serve bottle's beer in it, they will sell like hot cake.
