No, there really isn't. All I can tell you is this:

1. Choose a theme.

2. Get all cards that fit/support that theme into that pile.

3. Get the staple cards into that pile.

4. Look at the Forbidden/Limited List and eliminate cards that you have too many of.

5. Slowly eliminate cards that do not fit your theme. Eventually you will have only 50 cards in that pile.

6. Try to keep the following balances:

*Have only 2 Tribute monsters unless you have another way to pay for the Tributes. Also have ways to summon them without Tributes.

*Try to have only 40 cards in your deck divided like this:

about 20 monsters, about 13 Spells, and about 7 Traps.

7. Eliminate cards and still keep the balance.
