The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox have played in many postseasons together since 2000. Although the Red Sox did win the 2007 World Series and are on a question to win again in 2008, the Yankees are not performing so well this season.

Although the 2008 season is not over for another two and a half months, how would you react if both the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox did not make the postseason in 2008?

I believe if both the Yankees and the Red Sox did not make the postseason, then it would allow any of the four teams an equal chance in the American League to win the American League Pennant.

  1. Although I think that both will be in the playoffs this year, (sorry Rays fans) I don't think that the game would benefit if both were out of the post season.  Both teams generate an incredible amount of support and interest in the sport from casual fans.  Plus the rivalry makes for some pretty entertaining games.  I can't really say that of say Philly and Arizona match-ups...

  2. NEITHER????  I'd check to see if Tim Donaghy became an umpire.

  3. I'm a Red Sox fan since birth (quite a while ago.....)  but I have to admit, hard as it is to swallow, that it would be good for baseball in general for neither of these big spender teams to make the playoffs.  It would be amazing for the Rays to take the pennant, wouldn't it?

Don't tell anyone in New England that I posted this, my name would be mud!

  4. I would turn look for more interesting news.

  5. If the Yankees didn't make it, my interest in baseball would fall about 90 percent and I'd start focusing on the Jets and the New York Rangers.

If the Red Sox didn't make it, I'd chuckle. And smile for days, even more so if the Yankees made it.

If both of them missed it, I wouldn't pay much attention to the postseason, but I'd be OK knowing Boston wouldn't be claiming the World Series.

  6. Review which eight teams ARE playing, and sort through which ones I should discreetly support. Probably the Cubs and Rays. Then sit back and enjoy three weeks of playoff baseball, enduring Fox's dreadful production as necessary.

  7. pretty disapointing because the red sox are doing great

but for the yankees not really because they are alright but not a dominant team this year but it would be nice to see them both in the postseason

  8. i would love it..i have never been a yankee fan..or a red sox fan...i am a total cleveland fan...no matter what there record..i will always follow cleveland pro,sports..also go buckeyes

  9. I would wonder, what went wrong but for that to happen, the Rays have to get hot and be consistent and some team like the Jays will have to step up. I would be shocked, but considering the Sox are a lock this year, I don't think we have to worry about that.

  10. I think its very possible that one of these 2 teams may end up sitting out the playoffs. The red sox are not a lock for either the Al East or Pennant, they are terrible on the road. But i doubt that these 2 teams will miss it i think the Rays will end up falling off  becuase of the youth and inexperience and the pressure, and the yankees will prob go out and make a huge trade to make sure they can make a run.

  11. I think before it even hits me that my team (the Yankees) didn't make the playoffs, I would be SHOCKED that the Rays were the only team in the AL East to make it into the playoffs. Then I would be a little bummed that the Yankees aren't playing in October. Finally, I would enjoy the postseason. It would be interesting to see how far the Rays could go.

  12. we cant go around saying if"

If i won the lottery" if i was a star" if i was a baseball player etc...

it just dosent work that way. Ill be upset if they didn't get to post seasson but its not the end of the world.

  13. I'd be thrilled if the Yankees didn't make it and heartbroken if the Red Sox didn't.

  14. I would be happy to see a change in the playoffs, its about time to see it.

  15. Finally! Now time to get those smaller markets some world-wide attention!

  16. The Red Sox are almost a lock for either the Wild Card or the Division.

    The Yankees not so much.

I personally would not be shocked if the Sox made it and the Yanks don't.

I would probably would sad Yankee Stadium won't hold another postseason game after all the history it would end.

    Jack

  17. Won't happen so it doesn't matter. Rays are already ******* up and won't make the playoffs
