  1. you responded like a true mom. Tell him he can always come to you when his own mom isn't available. If you can let his mom know the child needs her attention on the bus stop.

  2. "Since your Mommy isn't here to watch you right now, I wanted to help make sure you are safe". I tend to mother hen too. Its nice that that little boy is getting some caring, even if its from a lady at the bus stop.

  3. beat the parents with ed mcmahon

  4. I would respond that people have different ways of caring, that his mom cares about him, but it is just that the way she shows it is different than mine.

I guess it is a hard one in any case...

  5. There was a litle girl in my daughter's class, very similar. Although her mother loves her very much, she wasn't always around because she was a single parent and had to work to support her. I probably would've said that if she could have been there, she would and left it at that. To this day this little girl is super clingy with me and her mom is remarried and financially stable and still doesn't have time to devote now that she has another child. Who knows what the circumstances are. It was nice that he appreciated what you were doing in any case, you should feel proud. Eight year olds are smarter than they should be these days.

  6. I would've been sad!  But, I think you answered him the right way.
