  1. If she has to drive around the neighborhood 200 times to find a parking spot, I say split the rent equally.  If not, maybe she could cover one of the utilities such as basic phone or cable.

I say basic since she shouldn't have to pay the other two roommates long distance and pay per views.

  2. It makes sense that the person who is occupying one entire room to herself should pay more than 1/3, but not by much. I would probably ask the individual to pay 40% and have the other two pay 30% each.

That would mean that the two people who share a room would be paying 60% of the rental fees combined, compared to the 40% for the single.

  3. I would say split evenly in thirds. No parking for privacy seems like a great deal to me.

  4. the obvious answer is 33/33/34% but you wouldn't be asking if this didn't work. So who's unhappy paying a third of the rent? You have to negotiate and let everyone have their say and then thats it.

  5. how valuable is the parking spot?  are we talking manhattan here, or just more convenient parking?

    .

  6. How about in thirds? If the trade-off for a private room is street parking, so be it... or

the two pick up an expense like cable tv or high speed internet connection and allow roomie #3 to use it for free...or

use the assigned parking on a monthly rotating basis, so that all three of you get some time on the street, and equal time in the assigned parking. There are lots of ways to do this. Have fun in your new apt!

  7. Everyone pays 1/3 of ALL the expenses .....

The one person got the private; but smaller bedroom ....

The other two got the parking spaces .....

It all equaled out and so should the Expenses .... to be Totally Fair .

  8. Sounds pretty equal to me... I would do 3 ways. Did everyone have their choice or did someone get stuck with something they didn't want? If everyone was ok with their situation and not really feeling like they got shafted then I would say 3 ways is fair. If it causes disputes down the line you can rotate the parking spots maybe...
