I changed my hardrive on my laptop a few months ago and I have finally got round to sorting out my old hardrive which I am now using as an external hardrive (60gb) the only problem is when the hardrive was in my laptop it had a partition and now when I connect the old hardrive to use as a back up it still has the partition. Does anyone know how to merge the partition so I have the 60gb drive back again??????????

Many thanks

  1. Delete both partitions ("the partition" is the second partition.  The one you want to merge it with - the "real drive" is the first partition.)  Create a partition.  Use the entire drive for this partition.  Format it.  You're done.  (It'll take longer to format than to read this - a LOT longer.  Just let it finish.)

    D O   N O T   format the internal (usually the C:) drive!

@hp - VERY nice site.  Thanks.
