  1. since others have discussed your grammar (or lack of) I will answer your question.  An art activity can help a child's language activity just by talking through the activity.  The possibilities are endless.  You can teach colors, texture (soft, rough, hard, sharp), size (the big piece of paper, the small paint brush), quantity, position (left, right, under, over)...I could go on and on.

  2. Visual Memory

    Vocabulary Development

  3. Apparently you should try doing an art activity to see if it helps YOUR language skills.

  4. The following are components of language.  What art project you do and with what age group depends on which components of language will be focused on.

    Alliteration:

    Auditory Discrimination:

    Auditory memory:

    Classification:

    Comprehension:

    Hand-Eye Coordination:

    Left-to-Right Progression:

    Onomatopoiea:

    Oral Language:

    Phonological awareness/Sensitivity:

    Print Awareness:

    Rhyme:

    Visual Discrimination:

    Visual Memory:

    Vocabulary Development:

    Whole/Part Relationships:

At an art center you will see...

Oral language and comprehension because the children are often discussing their projects.  If there is an adult nearby...often these conversations can also be extended to include alliteration, phonological awareness, vocab develop. etc.

Hand-Eye coordination in EVERY art project.

Left-to-Right Progression. In my program I often place the material on the children's left.  This encourage midline activity and helps with left-to-right.  Including penants for painting and placing the wide side on the left also helps this progression.

Classification- when a child is creating their project from the materials provided...there is much classification and organzing going on in that child's brain...deciding when and how it should be done.

Hope that gives you an idea!  Art is a great way to develop many pre-reading and pre-math skills...especially if it is "open" for free exploration.

  5. I can see why, when you spell "would" as wud and "this" as dis. Please don't work with children, go back to school.

  6. don't listen to the stupid heads in the first 2 answers. art can help children alot. first when children are busy doing an art project they talk to each other about it and how they are going to do it. second after they are done you can ask them about their art project and if they like it or not. third after you hang their art project on the classroom walls they will start telling their parents and friends about how pretty their project is and how proud they are that they did it.

  7. Me:) ......You have to expect people to be rude or smart A$$es on here..especially if they don't know the answer.  Grants momma and Amber both have great answers.. If I get thumbs down, I know who did it....lol
