How wuld a doctor say to his patient that he has amnesia? ?

im writting something and i need to know the way a doctor would speak..The patient witnessed something that really shocked him causing him something with his nerves which leads to amnesia.

How would a doctor explain this? The way a doc speaks...

A mad person can't be told that he is mad.

A person with amnesia need not be told of his condition.These people can't help themselves.Counselling of patient's relatives done in these situations - keeping in mind all his family backgrounds - best possible ways to help the patient out.

If that is the reason - which U have mentioned - he/she will recover soon.Have patience - visit an efficient psychiatrist for help.
